There is no such thing as an easy and convenient public transportation here in the Philippines. Middle-class workers must battle it out to even get inside a bus, a jeep, or an LRT/MRT train nowadays. However, these everyday situations are not an excuse to humiliate—and most importantly inflict harm—to other commuters. Recently, a rude passenger started a commotion inside the LRT train that led other commuters to report her.
It’s important to note that thousands of people go through the same difficulties as you. We all have to wait in line, get used to the cramped space inside public transportation vehicles, and go through hours of traffic to get home. This can only mean that no one has the right to lash out, especially when kids are involved.
Based on the now-deleted post taken from a certain Facebook user, the confrontation started when this rude passenger scolded and pushed a child for unintentionally leaning on her bag.
“Pagalit na sinabi: Huwag mo sandalan iyong bag ko”
Trying to ignore what happened, the child’s mother asked if she could stand near the available space since she was already feeling unwell. However, this impolite woman didn’t allow anything of the sort.
“Sabi ko kay ate girl, mayroon pa space kaya doon ako pupuwesto pero hindi siya pumayag. Sabi ko sana ng taxi na lang siya kung ayaw niya nasisiksik. Ang sagot ni ate girl: “Pake mo!’”
Despite the hostile response, the mother just let it all slide and didn’t fight back because of her health condition.
“Doon ko na naramdaman iyong sakit ng ulo at batok ko sa galit. Pero wala ako nagawa dahil kasama ko anak kong babae. Worried na rin sa akin dahil baka himatayin naman ako in public place.”
Soon after the confrontation between them, the other passengers immediately came to the rescue. As a matter of fact, they even called a security guard to ask her to step outside the LRT train. However, she didn’t leave and she remained seated until she reached her destination.
