Boy goes viral after performing with a "microphone umbrella!
As said before, in the Philippines, there is no doubt that you will certainly find something interesting happening in every corner. Filipinos surely know how to turn something simple into something extraordinary. This is just one of their unique traits that make them stand out. Recently, the “microphone videos” has been a trend among Filipinos in social media. We all saw this in the singing Jollibee customer and the Mang Inasal customer asking for a refill.
Now, another addition to this trend was spotted again. This time, it was set in one of those free karaoke trials in our local malls. Though it was not really a “microphone”, we get to witness a boy pretending that his umbrella was one. In the video posted online, we see him lipsyncing to a song being played loudly in the mall. He impressively made it look like he was in one of those singing contests as he sang with emotion to his “microphone umbrella”.
The boy certainly got a lot of people’s attention for doing this. This was because of the fact that one, the song being played featured a girl hitting high notes. Obviously, not many boys could do this in real life so, everyone knew that it was an act. Two, though it was clearly a lipsync act, he still made it look realistic as he knew all the words to the song, had impressive facial expressions and showed great emotion while “performing.”
His friends taking the video could not help but laugh. On the other hand, the people who witnessed this were simply amazed. The video instantly went viral as it gathered thousands of likes and shares from the netizen. Now, he is part of the viral trend of “microphone videos,” —even though he did not really use one.
You never really know what to expect from Filipinos in their everyday lives. The Jollibee man, Mang Inasal girl and now, Lipsync boy are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to these situations. Finding fun and entertainment in the simplest things is truly a trait that our people possess. In a way, I guess, it is what makes people from other countries recognize and even love us for.
